However, the scenario has been changed a lot in the last decade. The growing demand for the smartphones has made India the second largest smartphone market in the world. As a result, the high demand has given a chance to many native companies to try their luck in the market. These Indian mobile manufacturing companies are coming up with latest technologies, new features and new devices at a cost-effective price.

The smartphone manufacturing is India has also gained impetus with the “Make in India” campaign initiated by the PM Narendra Modi. Indian smartphone makers who had a very small hold in the market are now spreading their wings across the market. Karbonn: the company was started in 2009 to bring the benefits of smartphone telephony to the users. Currently, it is regarded as the leading smartphone brand in the country. LAVA: officially known as Lava International Limited is an Indian MNC in the mobile handsets market. The company started in 2009 and has become one of the fastest growing handset companies in India. The company has showed its commitment towards “Make in India” initiative and has already established first assembly plant at Noida in April, 2015. Recently, it has also inaugurated its second manufacturing capability in Noida. Currently, the company is focussing on establishing first Mobile Phones Design Centre in India. With headquarters in Noida, the company has overseas operations in Thailand, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Indonesia, Mexico, Middle East, Russia, and Egypt.
SPICE: From a mobile phone service provider, the company turned into mobile handset production business. The company has its headquarters in Mohali, Chandigarh. The company is currently doing well in the business and offers smartphones with 4G Volte connectivity.
